You can't make a great wine without a great dog ... or so they say. At least, that's what Vincent Arroyo says at www.winerydogs.com. Check out the site. Truely, these are some great dogs! I have no personal opinion on the wine/dog connection, but judging by the number of 'Winery Dog' books, i'm apparently in the minority. Perhaps a really great wine does require a really great dog!
But I do have an opinion on Bob. Bob's my cat. Here's Bob:
At least, this was Bob a few years ago. He's gotten a bit bigger. Here's Bob now:
Yes. He's actually quite a bit larger. In fact, he's bigger than our dog.
No, Bob doesn't like wine. Which makes him my perfect drinking companion. I don't have to worry about the good stuff disappearing. Bob and I spend many a late afternoon in the back yard, enjoying a stellar glass of wine as the sun sets over the hills. Yes, if you want to keep ALL the wine for yourself, you can't find a better partner than Bob.
On the other hand, he does like cheese. A lot. Every now and then I do have to fight him for the last piece. And he REAALLLLLLY likes shrimp. Don't even think about enjoying a shrimp cocktail without sharing.
Bob is quite entertaining. As big as he is, he still thinks of himself as a small kitten, often trying to fit into the small places that used to present no problem. As you can see, Bob is definitely bigger than a bread basket:
I doubt we'll see a book on Winery Cats. Unlike dogs, they're pretty independent. You can have a really great cat, but he may not show up when you want him to. Call a dog...and BANG! He's there. A cat? Naaaah... A total waste of time.
But your wine is safe. A cat won't drink a drop. Which is very important to me. I like my wine!
