These exceedingly rare old vines produced fruit for the wine that won the 1976 blind tasting in Paris against French Chardonnays, heralding worldwide acknowledgement of the quality of California wines.In its ninth vintage, the 2008 Rudd Bacigalupi Chardonnay exhibits delicate floral aromas and intriguing minerality that give way to an elegant long finish. The flavors of this very special wine are intense and focused. Each year fruit production decreases due to the age of the vines. Although we will continue to make Bacigalupi Chardonnay as long as the vines permit, we suggest trying this wine now to avoid disappointment.
