Chateauneuf-du-Pape Mathieu 2010

Notes from the Winemaker: Brothers André and Jérôme manage the estate of Mathieu, a family that traces its roots in Châteauneuf-du-Pape back to the 16th century. Within this AOC they farm 20 hectares, or nearly 50 acres, that break down into an astonishing 55 par-cels of vines with an aggregate age coming in at over sixty-five years. Harvest here is a two to three week undertaking! These parcels grow in every type of soil in the appellation, giving the brothers an enviable degree of diversity. Most inter-esting of all, these vineyard parcels are field blends and their yields are harvested and fermented together.
