Notes from the Winemaker: Our 2008 Russian River Valley Chardonnay was produced from two select vineyards: 90% from Saralee’s Vineyard in Russian River Valley and 10% from the Sangiacomo’s Vineyard in Carneros. The fruit was harvested in late September and after a whole cluster press, the wine was barrel fermented using 25% new/75% neutral French oak barrels. Only 50% of the wine was put through malo-lactic fermentation to add richness.
The end result was a wine with a complex and juicy mix of honeysuckle, Bartlett pear and Lemon Meringue flavors with hints of nutmeg on the finish.
